Music

These days my main project is The Airport 77s, purveyors of the finest vintage power pop:

I’m also playing with John Kelly in his Monkees cover band The Stepping Stones and sitting in on upright bass for jazz combos around town. I also hand the bass to Melanie and switch to six-string for 2D gigs.

From 2005 to 2012 my main band was The Spectacles, sandblasting stages around our home base in Silver Spring, MD.

Our hit single can be found here.

From 2007 to 2010 I played a lot of shows with Billy Coulter, award-winning writer of fine American rock and roll based in Takoma Park, MD. I play bass on the live Trace CD.

Working with drummer Doug Tull in Billy’s band got me a shot at the bass slot in The Howling MAD, an edgy four-piece featuring Doug and local legends Michael Reidy and Abaad Behram. That good time lasted from October 2007 to May 2009.

From 2003 to 2005 I played with Mike Shupp, a great power-pop singer/songwriter from Northern Virginia. Prior to that I had a 3-year stint singing harmony and playing bass with the mostly-acoustic Dirt Girl Sugar. My local career started in 1993 with singer/songwriter Paul Tewksbury and drummer Jon Dorf in Goodlife.
